Both the Hungu and Hinku valleys remain uninhabited although there are kharka in the upper Hinku base, where Sherpa from the south, near Pangom graze their animals during the grass-growing monsoon.

The valley terminates in a crescent of ridges, peaks and passes that includes West Col (6,135m), Amphu Labtsa (5,780m) and the Mingbo La (5,817m). The Khumbu side of the Mingbo La is quite steep as you descend between ice flutings for about 100 meters, with the final glacier section through the terraces of the Mingbo Glacier quite stunning.

Trekking Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu in International Airport meet and greet with flower garland and transport to Hotel, Kathmandu and evening trip briefing with Welcome dinner.
Day 02: Fly Kathmandu to Lukla (2840m) and trek to Chhutyanga (3050m) 3 hours. O/n camp.
Day 03: Trek to Tulithuli Kharka (4300m) 6 hours. O/n Camp.
Day 04: Trek to Tashiongma (3580m) 6 hours. O/n Camp.
Day 05: Trek to Oshila kharka (4060m) 6 hours. O/n Camp.
Day 06: Trek to Thangnak (4356m) 6 hours. O/n Camp.
Day 07: Trek to Khare (5045m) 6 and ½ hours. O/n Camp.
Day 08: Trek to Mera Base camp (5350m) 5 hours. O/n Camp.
Day 09: Trek to Heigh camp (5780m) 4 hours. O/n Camp.
Day 10: Climbing Mera center (6461m) and Mera north (6476m) and return to Mera Base Camp, 9/10 hours. O/n Camp.
Day 11: Trek to Thangnak 7 hours. O/n Camp.
Day 12: Trek to Chhotra (3150m) 6 hours. O/n Camp.
Day13: Trek to Chuthyanga (3050m) 6 hours. O/n Camp.
Day 14: Trek to Lukla 3 hours. O/n Camp.
Day 15: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel and free day. O/n
Hotel.
Day 16: Final departure transport to the international airport with private transportation.
